The Longboat Key Club

The Longboat Key Club

The Club Parcel consists of our Private Membership Harbourside Golf Course, Tennis Gardens, and our “farm to table” restaurant, The Tavern & Whiskey Bar.

The Harbourside Golf Course opened for play in 1982. Many of the holes border the Sarasota Bay and our own Longboat Key Club Moorings which makes for a beautiful setting. The White Egret nine measures 3,426 yards and has the least amount of water of the three nines. The Red Hawk was recently redesigned by architect Ron Garl who challenges the golfer with many risk and reward opportunities. More open and forgiving than the White Egret, this nine has water that plays into many shots. The Red Hawk measures 3,323 and this past season the entire nine was re-sodded with the ever popular Platinum Paspalum grass. This new playing surface gives you a great lie every time and makes the game a pleasure to play.

The final nine at Harbourside is our famous “Blue Heron” measuring 3,401 yards—our signature nine of all 45 holes here at Longboat Key Club. This nine was redesigned in 2005 and this year re-sodded with the new Platinum Paspalum grass as well. It contains nine “signature” holes and challenges every part of your game. Tree-lined fairways and swirling winds put a premium on shot-making and course strategy.

The award-winning Tennis Gardens at Longboat Key Club features 20 Har-Tru courts, including an exhibition worthy center-court and a state-of the-art HydroGrid irrigation system that keeps the play surface in excellent condition at all times. The Tennis Gardens includes a player’s patio, locker rooms, tennis concierge, activity room and a large pro shop, fully stocked with the latest in tennis fashions. Lessons, clinics and a knowledgeable tennis concierge complete the superior range of offerings. The Tennis Gardens has hosted the Sarasota Open USTA Pro Circuit Men’s Tournament and hosts celebrity matches, tennis social events, wine tastings, round robin tournaments and tennis camps. Recipient of the USTA’s “Facility of the Year” award and named the #1 Tennis Resort on the Gulf Coast of Florida by Tennis Magazine, and named the #4 Top Tennis Resort in the World by Tennis Resorts Online in its highly competitive annual listing. Additional rankings include: #2 Best Pro Shop, #3 Best Tennis Staff, and #4 Best Game Arranging.

Last, but certainly not least, located on this parcel of land is The Tavern & Whiskey Bar, which offers our members a casual sophisticated dining experience with a local perspective. The heart of the menu is committed to a “farm to table” ideology featuring simple straight forward preparations, served in a creative manner with ingredients from local sources centering dishes around what is fresh and seasonal.
